It is an important tourist centre, with great hotels and restaurants. In the early 1970s, Can Picafort was a small fishing village with 200 inhabitants. It transformed   into a tourist complex with almost 10,000 beds. Can Picafort is one of the main tourist resorts of the island, offering a wide variety of services and attractions, enjoyed by visitors from all over Europe, every year. The majority of the tourists who choose Can Picafort to enjoy their holidays are from Germany and the United Kingdom.

The District of Baulo disposes of a small protected natural area, where a lot of wildlife can be observed, such as for instance turtles, red pheasants, hares, rabbits, weasels, hedgehogs , dormice and Algerian hedgehogs.

In this area there are some important archaeological excavations, most of them dating from the pre-Roman era. The most famous are the Real Necropolis or the Cementerio de los Fenicios.

Can Picafort is a coastal town in Majorca, which belongs to the municipality of Santa Margarita. It is located in the bay of Alcudia about 10 miles from Santa Margarita, in the north-east of the town of Palma de Mallorca, on the north coast of the island
