Magaluf disposes over a beach which is a 1km long, hundreds of hotels, hostels and apartments, as well as over lots of bars, restaurants, shops and nightclubs. It is bordered in the North by Porrassa, in the East by Palma Nova , in the West by Sol de Mallorca and in the South by the bay and the islet Porrassa. In its hinterland there are some old salt mines known as Las Salinas del Salobral ,which are almost completely dried out.

According to the census of 2006, it counts 4346 inhabitants. Magalluf is part of the framework of the Paseo Calvia, which is considered the green lung of the municipality.

Magaluf (officially and in Catalan: Magalluf), which place name appears for the first time in documents in 1234 as Magaluf ben Jusef , and according to historians, stems from a Jewish name. It is a town located in the municipality of Calvia, in Mallorca, the largest island of the Balearic Isles.
